Last month I was proud to share my 2015 President’s Report with the York University community. This year’s report highlights how York continues to set itself apart from other institutions of higher learning thanks to our world-renowned faculty, researchers, students, staff and alumni and the many ways they are redefining excellence with new and unconventional modes of thinking, and innovative methods of teaching, learning and community contribution.
I often say that at York we take pride in doing things differently, and 2015 was certainly a big year for us in this respect, with a number of impressive developments happening across campus. These include the opening of our new Bergeron Centre for Engineering Excellence; a landmark donation from alumnus Victor Phillip Dahdaleh that launched The Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health; and the Government of Ontario’s decision to support the creation of a new York University campus in Markham Centre.
These forward-looking investments by our alumni and by government reflect our own sense that York University is on its way to becoming a global leader in academic excellence and innovation, and that we are a community connected to what matters.
I always appreciate the opportunity to share my annual report with the York community, and to acknowledge all the ways that community members help York to shine each year. I hope you are similarly inspired while reviewing these recent updates and achievements, and that you see your own contributions reflected in it.
